A few months back I got an email from a writer at Voyage Chicago Magazine. They were asking me if I'd be interested in doing an interview for their online magazine. I was very hesitant at first, I had no belief that my small photography business warranted being interviewed. I'm tucked away in the far corner of McHenry County all the way in Harvard (which many assume I mean Harvard Massachusetts when I tell them where I live), so why would a Chicago based magazine want to hear about me. After some thought, I figured what the heck, I'll go for it! As I began the interview process, I was so nervous, I hate talking about myself. Soon I realized that I had a lot to say about what I do, probably too much! I had to condense my words and try to keep my thoughts and experiences straight and to the point. Weeks later I got an email letting me know that my article had gone live on the website.
It was so odd to read about myself but I couldn't be happier! I'm beginning to feel like all of my hard work is starting to pay off! I love taking beautiful portraits for all of my clients and I hope to continue doing so for many years to come!
I am so excited to offer Santa's Magical Workshop photo sessions this year! I really wanted this to be a session to remember so I've decided to pull out all the stops and make it an event. When you come to my home studio in Harvard, IL, I will have everything decorated as if you are walking into Santa's home or get-away cottage. My studio space will be set up as though it is Santa's private workshop complete with a hot cocoa stand! Your kid(s) (or pet) will be treated to a fun photo session in Santa's workshop. Around the halfway point, Santa will make his grand appearance! This is where there will be some creative freedom for you or your child. They can chat with Santa while I take photos or they can act as if they are sharing cookies with him, having a cup of cocoa, or even act as if they're taking a Christmas Eve nap in Santa's workshop. Santa will ask your child if they'd like to help him finish working on some ornaments which they can then take home with them. You may then take a family photo with or without Santa if you'd like. Santa will then say his goodbyes and be on his merry way! My personal assistant elf will then make sure each child (or pup) gets a fun goody bag to take home! All photos will be edited and delivered via online album with a print release included. You will get 10-15 images. All in time for Christmas delivery!
I'm hoping to see you in Santa's Magical Workshop this year, it will be such a fun and memorable time!
Whenever I know that I'll be doing a first birthday photo session, I get a bit giddy! These sessions are so unique as they are often the first time a child is in front of a camera in a studio. There is so much for them to see and play with... they usually want to go anywhere BUT the designated photo area! Whenever I photograph these curious cuties I take my time to let them adjust and get familiar with everything around them. I love the candid shots that usually come out with these sessions. The little lady in the gallery below is an absolute doll and one of my favorite little clients. I had some vanilla cupcakes on hand and with mom & dad's blessing, I let her make a little mess! The resulting photos were a priceless memory for her parent's to cherish. I have a few options for first birthday photos; just a "plain" session with no cake smash, a cake smash session where you bring in the treats, or for an added fee I will provide the cake. With or without cake these session make great memories!
